Colt Cams “Big Stick” Camshaft

Application: 1989-2012 Dodge 5.9/6.7L Cummins

Stage 3: Nicknamed the “BIG STICK“. It has gained the most popularity. This cam delivers the strongest mid-range torque and H.P possible, but still has good bottom end and drivability. It completely replaces your stock shaft with a brand new billet “drop-in” version. Designed, tested, and created at Colt Cams, the shaft requires no modifications or valve lift like other aftermarket cams. Instead, it fits directly into the existing stock location and gives your 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins the strongest mid-range torque and horsepower possible. Unlike other brands, Colt Cams creates shafts that also improve lower end power to keep you truck powerful no matter the RPM range. No mods are required, but we do recommend a set of springs.

• Average 2 – 3 MPG increase
• 30 – 35 % smoke decrease
• Approximately 200° EGT drop
• Good to 4000 rpm

Break-in Procedure

• Cam Lube on all lobes, lifter faces, and oil pump gears.
• Oil all bearing journals and lifter barrels.
• Always turn the engine over by hand before starting, check for clearances and proper timing location.
• Fire up to 1800 – 2000 rpm. for 18 – 20 minutes.

Most oil companies have taken out a percentage of additives that are meant for anti-scuffing for break-in on flat tappet cams, so please ask your local auto parts professional for the best zinc additive they have and add it to your oil before you fire up your engine for the first time.

NOTE: When we say the camshaft is a straight drop in, it means In Almost All Cases. However, due to many contributing variances in an engine: heads planed, block decked, valve recession ect…any cam including stock, Should always be checked for clearance before startup! 

WARRANTY: Colt Cams obligation under warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of only its camshaft, lifter’s or services. If replacement is given, a cam core must be supplied. There is no warranty on removal or reinstallation of Colt Cams products or services. 

Colt Cams will not be responsible for incidental & consequential damages or personal injury damages of any kind from the purchase, installation and/or use of Colt Cams product’s or services. 

There is no warranty on products that have been physically altered, improperly installed or maintained, used in improper applications, abused or not used in conjunction with proper parts. To make a limited warranty claim, the part must be returned within one year of the purchased date. 

It must include all pertinent information, such as original invoice, etc. Upon inspection, it will be deemed fixable and/or replaceable.
